Johannes Gugl is a financial markets and blockchain specialist with over 15 years of experience in traditional finance and more than 7 years in the blockchain space. His career spans financial services consultancy with firms such as PwC, KPMG, and Fides Equity Partners, a Swiss private equity and investment advisory firm and later served as managing partner of Lakeshore Advisors, a Swiss family office. Since 2018, Johannes has dedicated his work entirely to the blockchain and crypto space with the incorporation of Blocksmatter, an early blockchain research and advisory firm and later as a partner at Aaro Capital, Johannes supports the 1B team with his deep blockchain technology and market expertise shaping the strategic direction and technical integration of the insurance solutions.
Chief Actuary
A qualified actuary with credentials from across Europe and Asia Pacific.
In 20 years in the insurance industry, they have worked with multiple multinational primary and reinsurance companies as a consultant across Europe and Asia fulfilling the regulatory actuarial requirements in many jurisdictions. At 1B-i Insurance, they will be responsible for the risk and actuarial function of the new entity, focusing on compliance with local regulatory requirements. This includes maintaining the appropriate capital levels within the business and overseeing the annual actuarial reporting for financial and regulatory purposes. This international expertise ensures that 1B-i Insurance will meet the complex regulatory standards across both Labuan and Luxembourg while building a forward-thinking, data-driven risk function.
Marie-Francine Richard
Chief Digital Marketing Officer
With her first Salesforce implementation in 2003, Marie-Francine spent the next 20+ years helping companies optimize the value of their CRM by driving adoption, maximizing ROI, and enhancing user engagement. She specializes in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, bringing experience from roles as in-house CRM Manager, providing CRM expertise for a global consulting firm, and working at Salesforce.
Marie-Francine has lived and worked in the United States, Canada, Switzerland, and Singapore managing global and regional projects. This broad international experience has reinforced the critical importance in aligning diverse teams, promoting effective change management, and creating governance.
Chief Underwriting Officer
An underwriting and analytics leader within the General Insurance space with over 15 years of experience spanning the UK and Asia-Pacific markets. His career focused on transforming underwriting performance, portfolio strategy, and digital capability across both personal lines and commercial P&C. Most recently as Chief Underwriting Officer at one of the world’s largest P&C insurers, he led the growth and governance of one of the region’s most dynamic portfolios.
